Just to add a bit more, I had the honour to jam with Joe and the Grease Band at Barrow Hill, about six months before they were "discovered". I was just 14 yrs old and a friend of the landlord's son. I know that Joe held the work of Lennon and McCartney in high esteem and included several of their works in his set.

I saw Joe Cocker back in July, man that show was kick ass, everyone was mesmerized by him, that guy can put on a show.he opened for Steve Miller, he was cool too.

So was I mate and I'm sorry but you are so wrong. The Beatles were innovators of the first order. OK, so some of their commercial hits were a bit "bubblegum", but their album work was superb and their compositional skills unmatched at the time. They (or more precisely Paul) wrote this tune after all. After hearing Joe's rendition, Paul said that he would never be able to play this again as Joe had done the difinitive version.

The Beatles could not touch this on a bet!!! They were way overated anyhow. Joe puts passion in this song. As he does all of his songs. The beatles were the new kids on the block of there time. I was there I know! |
