They own the pipes, but they don't own the content that is transferred over those pipes.Therefore they don't have the right to regulate the speed with which the content should be transferred over their pipes.They let me rent their pipe, but i can determine myself what i want to transfer over their pipe.

It's not unfair, we already pay the companies to use a certain speed of internet (1Mb DSL vs. 20Mb fiber). On the other end, content providers are paying for what they use too. What these companies want is to make it so that they can restrict what kind of traffic goes through the bandwidth that we've already paid for. In other words, even if you pay for 20Mb/s cable, depending on what website you visit, you might be restricted to 1Mb/s if that website can't afford the "big pipe".

Most power-party politicians support the restriction of information. Bi-partisan rhetoric like yours, shaggyjam, demonstrates an ignorance to both the republican AND democratic bureaucratic machinations that undermine freedom in the United States damages the movement to support freedom of information.There is an independent liberal-progressive movement that supports these freedoms. They are the friends, corporate and dominant political political powers are the enemies.
